Work Until it Hurts

Most gym buffs will tell you that the only way to get stronger is to work out your muscles until you max them out. Give them time to recuperate (they become stronger in the process) and then go back to the gym and put even more strain on them. I think the same could go for our careers. Sometimes you have to work until it hurts in order to test the limits of your potential. The extra work we put in will allow us to see even greater results. One of my favorite quotes is "you reap what you sow." The more investment you pour into something, the greater the potential return. All hard work brings a profit and most times working until it hurts will allow you to obtain phenomenal results.
